4HB Update-75 lbs. and counting!

The last you heard from me, I was on my way to Disney for a week of vacation. The challenge was to see if I could still maintain the slow carb diet that I’m following from the book Four Hour Body, by Tim Ferriss. As it turns out, I was able to do so pretty easily. I maintained my weight loss for the week, as I did indulge in some desserts toward the end of our week. And yes, I did take our scales with me on vacation. (That’s dedication!) I also had to buy new shorts, in September, to go on our trip. My old shorts didn’t fit anymore. A good problem to have.

So, what’s happened since then? I’ve continued to lose weight and am currently at 76 lbs. lost since March 2011. My goal is to lose 100 lbs. by the end of the year. A friend has already sent me something to help commemorate the special occasion. You’ll have to wait until I hit the goal to see it. (Thanks, Jay!)

I’ve also been busy answering questions about the diet, quite a bit. I’ve been answering questions via both Facebook and Twitter. I’ve got to meet a lot of great people on this journey who have been a great support to me in this endeavor. I even got to speak to a group about weight management and how the slow carb diet works. Very exciting and rewarding for me.

Here are a few pictures to share. This first photo is me with the pair of jeans I was wearing when I started 4HB. I’ve gotten rid of some of the other clothes, but I’m keeping this pair of jeans (and not to wear again).

The next photo is a progression of face shots, starting at my beginning weight, at 50 lbs. lost and last week at 76 lbs. I can honestly say, I don’t really remember the dude on the left. He doesn’t live here anymore. (Side note: one of my Facebook friends actually said my nose looked thinner!)

The final picture is a progression photo, as well, but from the side.

As a final note, the personal health improvement has been a HUGE benefit to me and my family. But more than that, being able to help others has been more rewarding to me. I enjoy this. I’d like to help more people, but in a different way. With my improved health, I plan to participate in various walks/5K events that benefit organizations and causes that are important to me. I believe that raising money for these organizations is another way that I can help my community. I plan to do the MS Walk On April 21, 2012. Look for my donation page to go up soon. I’ll post a link to it here and on my Facebook and Twitter pages.

Here’s where you come in. I know there are a lot of these events. Which events do you think I should participate in? Walks or 5K’s only at this point. Remember…I’m easing into this. 🙂  Thanks in advance for your responses, feedback and future support.
