My Favorite Christmas Songs…The Friends Version Vol. XX

Just 5 days away! Today’s song was suggested by Brenda Nixon (@BrendaNixon). The song is “Good King Wenceslas“. Here’s why Brenda says this is her favorite song:

“The song reminds us of the “good King” – which could be Jesus Christ – who braved the wicked weather (our world) to feed the poor (us). “Page and monarch forth, they went Forth they went together, Through the rude wind’s wild lament And the bitter weather…”

and last verse reminds me of my need to follow Christ’s example to love and help the poor:
“In his master’s steps he trod
Where the snow lay dinted
Heat was in the very sod
Which the Saint had printed
Therefore, Christian men, be sure
Wealth or rank possessing
Ye who now will bless the poor
Shall yourselves find blessing”

Thanks for sharing this song, Brenda!
